Counselling for Cancer (& any other serious illness).

If you have been given a diagnosis of a serious illness such as cancer, or someone close to you has, you may be experiencing a lot of emotions right now.

You may be feeling shock, disbelief, anxiety; grief even.

You may be worrying about work, your finances, your future and that of your loved ones.

Cancer itself is such an emotive word-and brings with it many questions, uncertainty and fear.

It can be a confusing, scary time.

How I can help

When faced with uncertainty it can be extra hard to focus, at a time when you are being given lots of information by your doctors and being expected to make important decisions that may affect your future.

You may be feeling a degree of pressure from those close to you around those decisions.

I always say that being given a diagnosis of a serious illness is like dropping a pebble in a pool-the ripples spread out and affect your family, your close friends, indeed all your relationships.

I am here to support you whatever it is you are struggling with and you can be assured of my empathy, compassion and care.

I have considerable experience supporting people with a cancer diagnosis at a cancer charity so am very familiar with the issues it can bring up for the patient and their loved ones.

I also have a great deal of personal experience of serious, life-altering illness including heart conditions, brain haemorrhage/brain damage, brain tumour, Stage 4 breast cancer, Spinal Muscular Atrophy and diabetes.

I have been involved with long term caring and making decisions resulting in residential care.
